Trust Taxon QHD Webcam — 2K Video with Privacy Shutter
2560 x 1440 at 30 fps92° diagonal viewAutofocus glass lensBuilt-in privacy shutter
The Trust Taxon shoots at 2560 x 1440 through an autofocus glass lens, with two omnidirectional microphones, a privacy shutter built into the body and a stand that works on a desk or on top of a monitor. Trust makes the housing from 85 percent recycled plastic. It is plug and play — no drivers, no software.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Read this before choosing between Taxon and TW-250: Trust publishes identical specifications for both models — same 1440p at 30 fps, same 92 degree diagonal view, same autofocus glass lens, same two microphones, same 180 cm USB-A cable, same 90 x 50 x 65 mm body and weight. The Taxon datasheet additionally prints an 80 degree horizontal viewing angle where the TW-250 sheet gives only the diagonal, but both state the same 92 degree diagonal, so that is presentation and not optics. There is no published functional difference. Beyond that: the plug is USB-A on a 1.8 m fixed cable with no adapter in the box, the interface is USB 2.0 so 1440p is necessarily compressed, and the 92 degree view is fixed and wide — it will show the room behind you. Trust publishes no zoom, no HDR and no video format, and its support article for this item says the camera was developed for Windows even though the datasheet also lists macOS and Chrome OS.
Best For
✓ Replacing a soft 720p built-in laptop camera
✓ Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Skype — nothing to install
✓ Desks that require a physical lens cover
✓ Buyers who want recycled-plastic hardware
✓ Recording and local capture where the extra resolution shows
Key Features
1440p rather than 1080p
2560 x 1440 at 30 fps, with 1080p and 720p as fallback modes. Meeting platforms downscale, but you start from a sharper picture and recordings keep it.
Autofocus glass lens
Glass optics with autofocus and automatic white balance, so the picture stays sharp as you move rather than softening the way a fixed-focus camera does.
Shutter that is part of the camera
The privacy filter is built in. Slide it and the lens is covered — nothing to clip on and nothing to lose.
Dual omnidirectional microphones
Two microphones rated at 56 dB capture sound from more than one direction, with front LED indicators showing when the camera is live.

Singular Expert Insight
Trust sells two cameras here with the same published specification and different names, which is worth saying out loud rather than inventing a distinction. Judge the Taxon on its own terms and it is a sensible upgrade from a laptop camera: 1440p, autofocus, glass, a shutter you cannot misplace. The two limits are inherent to the design — 1440p through USB 2.0 means compression, so give it a direct port rather than a shared USB hub, and 92 degrees is a wide fixed view that takes in your room. If you want a tight frame on one face, a 75 to 78 degree camera is the better shape.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want 2K, autofocus and a built-in shutter on a USB-A machine, and the Taxon is the one available to you.
Skip it if
Skip it if you need narrow framing, USB-C, a tripod in the box, or published HDR and zoom figures.
Also consider
Trust TW-250 QHD Webcam Eco for the same published specification under a different name, or a 78 degree business camera if tight framing matters more than resolution.
