Ubiquiti UniFi G3 Reader, White
NFC, mobile unlock, handwave request-to-exit1 × 10/100 MbE RJ45; BLE 4.148 V DC PoE; maximum 5 WIP55; indoor/outdoor use
The Ubiquiti UniFi G3 Reader UA-G3-W is a white credential reader for a UniFi Access door system. It supports NFC cards and keyfobs, enrolled mobile credentials and handwave request-to-exit; it requires a compatible Access Hub and configured UniFi Access credentials, and is not a standalone door controller.
Best For: For installations using UniFi Access that need a compact white reader for NFC credentials or enrolled mobile access. A compatible Access Hub, management application, configured credentials and door wiring are required separately.
Before you order: This is the standard white G3 Reader, not the Pro or Fingerprint model: no fingerprint sensor, facial recognition, touchscreen/PIN keypad, camera or video intercom is established. A compatible Access Hub, suitable host/deployment, door lock, credentials and appropriate door wiring are separate; an ordinary PoE switch alone is not a complete system. Cards/keyfobs and optional junction box are not included. NFC range is less than 30 mm, and protocol support does not guarantee that arbitrary existing cards can be enrolled or cloned. Follow applicable installation requirements; IP55 is not submersion protection or fully dust-tight IP66.
What's in the Box
- One white UniFi G3 Reader
- In-wall/gang-box mounting plates or brackets and fitting hardware, including screws and anchors
What It Means in Practice
- The reader needs a compatible UniFi Access Hub for power and access-system operation; connect it using the supported deployment and suitable door wiring.
- NFC credentials must be compatible and enrolled with permissions in UniFi Access. Supported mobile-wallet/Touch Pass use also needs compatible enrolled devices and configured software credentials. Touch Pass entitlement setup, licensing terms and renewal are separate considerations.
- The NFC read range is less than 30 mm; present a supported credential close to the reader.
- For cabling, the manufacturer recommends at least Cat 5e, with minimum conductor gauges of 26 AWG for patch cords and 24 AWG for horizontal/riser cable.
What Will Not Work
- Not a standalone door controller; a compatible UniFi Access Hub and management application are required.
- One 10/100 MbE RJ45 port; no Gigabit or Wi-Fi network link, standalone USB power, supplied mains adapter or PoE output.
- No fingerprint sensor, facial recognition, touchscreen/PIN keypad, camera or video intercom is established for this standard model.
- NFC read range is less than 30 mm; support for listed protocols does not ensure arbitrary cards can be provisioned or cloned.
- Cards/keyfobs, Access Hub, door lock, console/host, appropriate door wiring, PoE injector and optional junction box are not included.
- IP55 does not mean submersible or fully dust-tight IP66; suitable mounting and wiring protection remain necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it control a door on its own?
No. It requires a compatible UniFi Access Hub, UniFi Access management application, configured credentials and appropriate door wiring.
Are cards, the hub and door lock included?
No. The confirmed package image shows one reader and mounting hardware. Access Hub, lock, cards/keyfobs, PoE injector and optional junction box are separate.
Can I use any NFC card?
Not necessarily. The reader supports the listed NFC technologies, but compatibility and enrollment depend on the credential and UniFi Access configuration; arbitrary cards are not guaranteed to work or be clonable.
What is included for mounting?
In-wall/gang-box mounting plates or brackets and fitting hardware are included. The optional dedicated junction box is sold separately.
Singular Expert Insight
The UA-G3-W combines NFC and supported mobile credential access in one compact reader, with in-wall/gang-box mounting hardware included. Its 10/100 MbE port is powered through a compatible Access Hub rather than acting as a complete access-control system.
