Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Pro XG 24 — Layer 3, 16× 10GbE + 8× 2.5GbE + 2× 25G

16× 10GbE + 8× 2.5GbE RJ452× 25G SFP28 uplinksLayer 3, 460 GbpsNo PoE — see the PoE model

The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Pro XG 24, model USW-Pro-XG-24, is a professional-grade 1U Layer 3 Etherlighting switch. Read the port count carefully, because the name is misleading: it has 24 RJ45 ports in total, but only 16 of them are 10GbE — the other 8 are 2.5GbE. Uplinks are 2× 25G SFP28, not 10G SFP+. Ubiquiti rates it at 460 Gbps switching capacity, 230 Gbps non-blocking throughput and 342 Mpps forwarding, with a 32,000-entry MAC table, an 8 MB packet buffer and support for 1,000 VLANs. Its Layer 3 credentials are genuine and named by Ubiquiti: DHCP server, DHCP relay, inter-VLAN routing and 512 static IPv4 routes. There is a 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front, and the switch draws a maximum of 150 W from its internal 200 W power supply. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Three things to confirm before ordering. First, this model has no PoE at all — not on any port. PoE belongs to the separate USW-Pro-XG-24-PoE, which has the same ports but adds a 720 W budget. Some reseller listings title the non-PoE SKU with “720W”; that figure belongs to the other model. Second, it is not a 24×10G switch: 16 ports are 10GbE and 8 are 2.5GbE. If you need 24 ports of full 10GbE, the model you want is the USW-EnterpriseXG-24. Third, it requires a UniFi Network application to configure — a UniFi console such as a Cloud Key or Dream Machine, or a self-hosted UniFi Network server running version 9.0.114 or later. Ubiquiti publishes no standalone web interface, so this is not a switch you can set up on its own. Note also that the uplinks are SFP28: they run 25G, 10G or 1G, so 25G optics are needed to reach full speed.

Best For

✓ Core or distribution switching in a UniFi network
✓ Sites moving from 1G to a mixed 10G and 2.5G access layer
✓ Feeding 25G uplinks to an aggregation switch or server
✓ Wi-Fi 7 deployments where access points need 2.5G or better
✓ Networks that need real inter-VLAN routing at the switch
✓ Existing UniFi installations with a console already in place

Key Features

Sixteen 10GbE ports plus eight 2.5GbE
The 16 10GbE RJ45 ports autonegotiate down through 5G, 2.5G, 1G, 100M and 10M, and the 8 additional RJ45 ports run at 2.5GbE. That mix is the point of the model: full 10G where you need it, multi-gig where 10G would be wasted, in one 1U chassis.

25G SFP28 uplinks
Two SFP28 cages run at 25G, 10G or 1G. That is a genuine step above the 10G SFP+ uplinks found on most 24-port switches, and it means the switch can feed an aggregation layer or a server without the uplink becoming the bottleneck. Total switching capacity is 460 Gbps with 342 Mpps forwarding.

Layer 3 that Ubiquiti actually specifies
Not a marketing L2+ badge: Ubiquiti names DHCP server for local networks, DHCP relay, inter-VLAN routing and 512 static IPv4 routes. Alongside them sit the Layer 2 essentials — LACP aggregation, STP and RSTP, IGMP snooping, 802.1X control, DHCP snooping and guarding, storm control, port mirroring, jumbo frames and LLDP-MED.

Etherlighting, a touchscreen and RPS support
Every Ethernet and SFP28 port is Etherlighting, so link state and speed are visible at a glance from the rack. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front gives local status, and a USP RPS DC input allows a redundant power supply to be added separately alongside the internal 200 W unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it have 24 ports of 10GbE?
No, and this is the most important thing to understand about the model. It has 24 RJ45 ports, but only 16 run at 10GbE — the remaining 8 are 2.5GbE. If you genuinely need 24 ports of full 10GbE, Ubiquiti’s USW-EnterpriseXG-24 is the model with that configuration. The Pro XG 24 is designed as a mixed-speed access and distribution switch.
Does it supply PoE?
No. This model has no PoE on any port, no PoE budget and no PoE standards listed. The PoE version is a separate product, the USW-Pro-XG-24-PoE, which has the same port layout plus a 720 W PoE+++ budget and up to 90 W per port. Some reseller listings put “720W” in the title of the non-PoE SKU, which is simply wrong.
Can I configure it without a UniFi controller?
Ubiquiti publishes no standalone web interface for this switch. It has to be adopted into a UniFi Network application running version 9.0.114 or later, which means either a UniFi console such as a Cloud Key or a Dream Machine, or a self-hosted UniFi Network server. If you do not already run UniFi, budget for a console alongside the switch.
What optics do the uplinks take?
The two uplink cages are SFP28, running at 25G, 10G or 1G. That means standard 10G SFP+ optics and DAC cables will work at 10G, but to reach the full 25G you need SFP28 optics or 25G DAC cables at both ends. It is worth checking what your aggregation switch or server supports before ordering optics.
Singular Expert Insight
Ubiquiti’s naming does this switch no favours. “XG” used to mean 10G throughout — it still does on the EnterpriseXG — but on the Pro XG line it signals a mixed 10G and 2.5G design, and the 24 in the name is the total RJ45 count rather than the 10G count. Once you know that, the design makes sense: 16 ports of 10G for servers, uplinks and high-throughput clients, 8 ports of 2.5G for Wi-Fi 7 access points and multi-gig endpoints, and two 25G SFP28 cages so the uplink is not the bottleneck. The Layer 3 claim is real and specified rather than a distributor’s embellishment. Two practical caveats: it needs a UniFi console to manage, which is an extra purchase if you are not already in the ecosystem, and Ubiquiti does not publish fan or noise data, so treat it as a rack-room switch rather than an office-corner one. Browse the rest of our switches and bridges, or our access points if the 2.5G ports are destined for Wi-Fi.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You run a UniFi network and want a 1U Layer 3 switch that mixes 16 ports of 10GbE with 8 of 2.5GbE and adds 25G SFP28 uplinks, with 460 Gbps of switching capacity and real inter-VLAN routing.

Skip it if

You need PoE — take the USW-Pro-XG-24-PoE instead — or you need 24 ports of full 10GbE, in which case the USW-EnterpriseXG-24 is the model. Also skip it if you do not run a UniFi console, since there is no standalone web UI.

Also consider

USW-Pro-XG-24-PoE for the same switch with a 720 W PoE+++ budget, USW-EnterpriseXG-24 for 24 ports of full 10GbE, or USW-Pro-Aggregation if you need an all-fibre 28× 10G SFP+ plus 4× 25G SFP28 aggregation switch.
