Ubiquiti UniFi Protect NVR Instant Kit — Recorder, Four 4 MP Turret Cameras and a 1 TB Drive in One Box
4 x G5 Turret Ultra 4 MP cameras1 TB HDD included6 PoE ports, 40 W budgetUp to 15 HD cameras
The Ubiquiti UniFi Protect NVR Instant Kit is a complete surveillance system in a single box: the UniFi Protect NVR Instant recorder, four G5 Turret Ultra 4 MP cameras and a 1 TB hard drive already fitted. It carries the part number UNVR-Instant-Kit (EAN 0810177164784). The recorder runs a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 at 1.7 GHz with 4 GB of RAM, provides six Gigabit PoE downlink ports plus a Gigabit uplink, and supports up to 15 HD, 8 2K or 6 4K cameras. Each included camera records at 2688 x 1512 through a 1/2.4 inch CMOS sensor with a 102.4 degree horizontal field of view, 30 metre infrared night vision, a built-in microphone and an IP66 rating for outdoor mounting. The recorder is desktop, wall or DIN rail mountable and ships with the mounts included. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Three limits shape what this kit can grow into. First, the recorder has six PoE ports with a 40 W total budget and a maximum of 15.4 W per port. The four supplied cameras draw about 4 W each, so roughly 24 W remains — enough for two more modest cameras, but a PTZ or floodlight camera will exhaust it. Second, the camera capacity figures are processing limits, not port counts: 15 HD, 8 2K or 6 4K cameras can be recorded, but anything beyond the six built-in ports needs its own PoE switch. Third, there is a single 3.5-inch drive bay with no RAID — the supplied 1 TB drive has no redundancy, and 1 TB fills quickly with four 4 MP streams, so plan a larger surveillance-grade drive if you need long retention. The recorder is indoor only, rated 0 to 40 °C, while the cameras are IP66 and rated -30 to 50 °C for outdoor use. Live viewing is capped at 6 simultaneous 4K viewport streams. The kit also runs UniFi Access and UniFi Connect alongside UniFi Protect.
Best For
✓ Homes and small businesses wanting a complete system in one purchase
✓ Sites with no existing network video recorder
✓ Shops, offices and warehouses needing four outdoor cameras
✓ Installations that will stay at six cameras or fewer
✓ Buyers who want UniFi Protect without specifying parts separately
✓ Locations needing DIN rail mounting in a comms cabinet
Key Features
Everything needed to record from day one
The box contains the UniFi Protect NVR Instant, four G5 Turret Ultra cameras and a 1 TB hard drive already installed, plus wall and DIN rail mounts. There is nothing else to specify or order — connect the cameras to the PoE ports and the system records.
Four 4 MP cameras with 30 m night vision
Each G5 Turret Ultra records 2688 x 1512 through a 1/2.4 inch CMOS sensor with a 102.4 degree horizontal field of view and infrared illumination to 30 metres. All four are IP66 rated and operate from -30 to 50 °C, so they can go outside, and each has a built-in microphone.
Six PoE ports and a quad-core recorder
A quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 at 1.7 GHz with 4 GB of RAM drives six Gigabit PoE downlink ports and a Gigabit uplink, supporting up to 15 HD, 8 2K or 6 4K cameras. Typical consumption is 9 W, with an internal 60 W power supply, so the whole system runs from one mains socket.
Compact and flexible mounting
At 220 x 220 x 47 mm and 1.04 kg the recorder sits neatly on a desk, but wall and DIN rail mounts are included so it can also go into a comms cabinet or onto a plant-room rail. It runs UniFi Protect, UniFi Access and UniFi Connect, and is NDAA compliant.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many more cameras can I add to the kit?
It depends on where you plug them in. The recorder has six PoE ports sharing a 40 W budget, and the four supplied cameras use around 16 W of it, so two more low-power cameras will fit on the built-in ports. Beyond that, the recorder can still process up to 15 HD, 8 2K or 6 4K cameras in total, but those additional cameras need power from a separate PoE switch.
Is 1 TB of storage enough?
For four 4 MP cameras it is a starting point rather than a long-term answer, and there is no RAID because the recorder has a single 3.5 inch bay. Retention depends on motion levels, frame rate and compression, but if you need weeks rather than days of footage, plan on fitting a larger surveillance-grade drive designed for continuous write duty.
Can the cameras be mounted outdoors?
Yes. The G5 Turret Ultra cameras are IP66 rated and operate from -30 to 50 °C, so they handle rain, dust and Cyprus summer heat. The recorder itself is indoor only and rated 0 to 40 °C, so it belongs in the house, office or a ventilated comms cabinet, not in an outbuilding without climate control.
What else can the recorder do besides record cameras?
It runs UniFi Access and UniFi Connect alongside UniFi Protect, so the same box can handle door access control and digital signage as well as surveillance. That makes it a reasonable first UniFi appliance for a small site that expects to add access control later.
Singular Expert Insight
Kits like this usually involve a compromise somewhere, and here it is storage rather than cameras. The four G5 Turret Ultra units are proper outdoor cameras — 4 MP, IP66, 30 m infrared, built-in microphones — not the token bundled hardware you often get. The recorder is capable too, with six PoE ports and enough processing for fifteen HD streams. The 1 TB drive is the part most people will outgrow first, because four 4 MP cameras writing continuously fill it in days rather than weeks, and the single bay means no redundancy. Budget for a larger surveillance-grade disk from our
surveillance HDDs range at the same time and the kit becomes genuinely good value. The other number to respect is the 40 W PoE budget: it comfortably runs the four supplied cameras and two more like them, but a PTZ or a floodlight camera will not fit. See our
IP cameras range if you plan to expand beyond the six ports.
Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You want a complete UniFi Protect system in one purchase — recorder, four outdoor 4 MP cameras and a drive already fitted — for a home or small business that will stay around six cameras.
Skip it if
You need more than six PoE ports without adding a switch, you require RAID or long retention, you plan to use high-power PTZ or floodlight cameras, or you already own a UniFi recorder.
Also consider
A larger surveillance-grade hard drive to replace or supplement the supplied 1 TB, or a standalone UniFi NVR plus cameras chosen individually if your site needs more than six ports.
