Verbatim Metal Executive 32 GB Gold — 3.6 g of Metal, Key Ring Included
32 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1, Type-A80 MB/s read / 25 MB/s writeMetal body, 3.6 g
The Verbatim Metal Executive is a 32 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive in a solid metal body, 29 x 15 x 5.5 mm and 3.6 g — about the size and weight of a house key. A metal key ring is supplied in the pack. Verbatim publishes read speeds of up to 80 MB/s and write speeds of up to 25 MB/s, and describes the body as tough, waterproof and dustproof.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive. There is no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. On the toughness claim: Verbatim describes the drive as waterproof and dustproof but publishes no IP rating for it. That matters if you are buying it to survive something specific — a rating is a tested standard, a word is not. Treat it as a metal drive that will shrug off a spill and a pocketful of grit, not as certified dive equipment. One thing worth checking on the operating system list: Verbatim publishes Windows 11, 10 and 8, plus Mac OS X 10.4 and later for this model, and does not list Linux. In practice the drive is a standard USB mass storage device, but if a supported-OS list is something your organisation actually checks, that is what the manufacturer states.
Best For
✓ A drive that lives permanently on a keyring — metal body, key ring in the pack
✓ Pockets and bags where a plastic stick would eventually crack
✓ Handing out as something that does not look like a giveaway
✓ Machines and laptops with USB-A ports
✓ Documents, photographs and installers rather than large video files
✓ Anyone who wants gold rather than another black stick
Key Features
Metal, and genuinely small
29 x 15 x 5.5 mm and 3.6 g. It is one of the smallest full-size USB-A drives you can buy, and the metal body is the reason it survives being on a keyring rather than in a drawer.
Key ring supplied
A metal key ring comes in the pack, not as an accessory to buy. Small thing, but it is the difference between a drive designed for keys and one with a hole in it.
80 MB/s read, 25 MB/s write
Verbatim publishes both, and publishes the same pair for the 64 GB version — so this smaller drive is not the slow one in the family, which is often not the case.
Tough, waterproof, dustproof
Verbatim’s words for the metal housing. No IP rating is published to go with them, so read them as everyday resilience rather than a certified figure.

Singular Expert Insight
This is the drive to buy when the stick has to live on a keyring and still work in two years. Metal, 3.6 g, 29 mm, and a key ring in the box rather than sold separately — the whole design points one way. The gold finish is a matter of taste, but it does make the drive findable in a bag. Two honest limits. The toughness is described rather than rated, so there is no IP number to hold Verbatim to. And 25 MB/s write is a flash drive figure — comfortable for documents and photographs, tedious for video. If you are moving large working files rather than carrying documents, an external SSD is the right class of product. Otherwise this sits happily among the rest of our USB flash drives.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a very small metal 32 GB drive that lives on your keys, with the key ring supplied and a published 80/25 that matches the larger model.
Skip it if
You need a certified water or dust rating, a USB-C connector, or fast writes for large video files.
Also consider
The 64 GB Verbatim Metal Executive if 32 GB is tight — same published speeds. Any plastic drive if the metal body is not worth the difference to you. A USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
