Verbatim Store ‘n’ Stay NANO 16 GB — 18 mm, Made to Stay Plugged In
16 GBUSB 3.2 Gen 1, Type-A80 MB/s read / 25 MB/s write18 x 16 x 7.8 mm, 3 g
The Verbatim Store ‘n’ Stay NANO is a 16 GB USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive built to be left in the port. It measures 18 x 16 x 7.8 mm and weighs about 3 g, and once inserted only around 5 mm protrudes — little enough that a laptop closes on it and a car head unit swallows it. Verbatim publishes read speeds of up to 80 MB/s and write speeds of up to 25 MB/s.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector and no adapter in the pack, so it will not enter a phone, a tablet or a USB-C-only laptop. It is designed to be left in, and that is also its main weakness — a drive that sits almost flush is hard to grip and awkward to pull out of a tight or recessed port. If you will be swapping it between machines several times a day, a full-size stick is the easier tool. Two article-number traps. The NANO name covers two different products:
98709 / 98710 / 98711 are the USB 3.2 Gen 1 drives (16, 32 and 64 GB) at 80 / 25 MB/s, while 97464 and 98130 are older USB 2.0 NANOs, physically slightly different at 17.15 x 14.85 x 7.7 mm and rated at only 10 MB/s read and 3 MB/s write. Same name, one third the speed. There is no 128 GB NANO. One honest note on the OS list: Verbatim’s European page lists Windows 11, 10 and 8 plus Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and does not list Linux — the drive is a standard USB mass storage device in practice, but that is what the manufacturer publishes.Best For
✓ Leaving permanently in a laptop, a TV, a car head unit or a media player
✓ Expanding the storage of a device that has a spare USB-A port and nowhere to put a full-size stick
✓ Machines where a protruding stick would be snapped off
✓ Documents, photographs and music you want always available
✓ Anyone who does not want to remember to carry the drive
✓ Buyers who prefer a published speed figure to a vague claim
Key Features
18 mm long, about 5 mm protruding
Verbatim designs this drive to disappear into the port. On most laptops the lid closes over it; in a car it does not catch on anything. That is the whole point of the product.
80 MB/s read, 25 MB/s write
Verbatim publishes both, and publishes the same pair for the 32 GB and 64 GB versions — so this smallest drive in the family is not the slow one, which is not always the case.
3 grams
Light enough that it puts no strain on the port even in a device that gets carried and knocked about.
Capless by design
There is no cap because there is nothing to cover once the drive lives in the socket. Nothing to lose, and nothing to look for when you want it.

Singular Expert Insight
The NANO is a different kind of product from a normal flash drive, and the right way to judge it is by where it will live rather than by what it costs. Left permanently in a laptop, a smart TV, a car or a media player it does something a full-size stick cannot: adds storage without adding a thing that sticks out and snaps off. Used as a carry-around drive it is the wrong shape — too small to grip, too easy to lose on a desk. The published 80 / 25 is solid for the class and holds across all three capacities, so at 16 GB you are only trading room, not speed. If you want a stick to move between machines, look at the full-size drives in our USB flash drives range instead. For large working files, an external SSD is the right class of product.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want to add 16 GB to a laptop, TV, car or media player and leave it there permanently, with almost nothing protruding from the port.
Skip it if
You will be moving the drive between machines every day — it is deliberately hard to grip. Or you need more room, or a USB-C connector.
Also consider
The 32 GB (98710) or 64 GB (98711) NANO at the same 80 / 25 if you want more room. Verbatim PinStripe or Metal Executive if you actually want a carry-around stick. Any USB-C drive if a phone is involved.
