Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go V3 128 GB — Slide and Lock
80 MB/s read25 MB/s writeSlide and Lock, capless128 GB
The Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go V3 (article 49189) is a 128 GB USB-A flash drive with Verbatim’s Slide and Lock mechanism — the connector slides into the body and locks there, so there is no cap. Verbatim publishes both figures for this drive, up to 80 MB/s read and up to 25 MB/s write, on a USB 3.2 Gen 1 host. It measures 58 × 20 × 11 mm and weighs 10 grams, and Verbatim lists Windows, macOS and Linux support.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things worth knowing before you order. First, Verbatim publishes the same 80 / 25 MB/s at 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, so buying a larger capacity will not make it faster — pick the size you need. Second, the drive that will confuse you is Verbatim’s own V3 MAX: identical 58 × 20 × 11 mm body, identical 10 g, identical Slide and Lock mechanism, so a photograph cannot tell them apart. The V3 MAX claims up to 300 MB/s (a family-wide figure, with no read/write split published) and adds a polished UV coating. If speed is what you are buying, order the MAX by article number, because the pictures are the same. This is a USB Type-A drive with no USB-C connector. The drive arrives formatted FAT32, which cannot hold a single file larger than 4 GB — reformat to exFAT if you carry video. Verbatim publishes no colour for this article on its European site; its US site says Gray.

Key Features
Slide and Lock, no cap
Verbatim’s own mechanism: the USB connector slides into the housing and locks when not in use. There is no separate cap to lose, and the contacts stay protected in a bag or a pocket.
Both speeds published
Up to 80 MB/s read and up to 25 MB/s write on a USB 3.2 Gen 1 host, stated in Verbatim’s own specification table. Most drives at this price publish a read headline and stay quiet about writing, which is the half you actually wait on.
Windows, macOS and Linux
Verbatim lists Windows 11, 10 and 8, Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, and Linux 2.4.0 or higher. The Linux support is stated rather than assumed, which is not true of every drive in this range.
USB 3.2 Gen 1, backwards compatible
A 5 Gbps interface that also works in USB 2.0 ports at their own rate. Verbatim now labels this standard USB 3.2 Gen 1; older listings call the same thing USB 3.0.

Singular Expert Insight
The V3 is Verbatim’s workhorse: a capless slider, both speeds published, and Linux listed alongside Windows and macOS. At 80 MB/s read and 25 MB/s write it is honest rather than fast, and the write figure is the one to plan around — filling 128 GB at 25 MB/s is a long wait, so this is a drive for carrying documents rather than for bulk transfers. The trap on ordering is the V3 MAX, which is the same body with a different claim and a different article number; if a listing shows you a photo of a V3 and quotes 300 MB/s, it is quoting the MAX. Verbatim’s European warranty here is two years, not the longer term its American site advertises. Tell us what you move most often and we will say whether this or the MAX is the right buy.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want a capless 128 GB USB-A drive with both speeds honestly published, you use Linux as well as Windows or macOS, and 80 / 25 MB/s fits how you work.
Skip it if
You move large files regularly and need real speed, you need USB-C, or you want a drive whose colour and housing material are actually published.
Also consider
The Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go V3 MAX for the same body with a polished coating and a higher speed claim, or a MediaRange High Performance drive if you want published per-capacity read and write figures.
