Wantec 7228 Extra-Slim Cat 6A Patch Cable — 0.5 m White

Cat 6A2.8 mm extra-slimU/UTP0.5 m White
The Wantec wantecWire 7228 is a 0.5 m white Cat 6A U/UTP RJ45 patch cable with an extra-slim 2.8 mm jacket, made for tidy, high-density patching between switches and patch panels. At roughly half the diameter of a standard 6 mm cord it frees up airflow and makes cable management in full 24- and 48-port racks far easier. Part number 7228 (EAN 4250367772287). Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Before you buy
This is an unshielded (U/UTP) slim cord. wantec does not publish AWG, jacket material or a PoE class for the Extraslim range, so for long PoE runs or high-power 802.3bt devices choose a standard-gauge shielded cord. Slim cords are ideal for short rack patching like this 0.5 m length.

Key Features

Extra-slim 2.8 mm jacket
About half the diameter of a standard Cat 6A cord, so dense switch-to-panel patch fields stay neat and front-panel airflow is not blocked.

Cat 6A rated
Built to the Cat 6A category for 10GBASE-T links over short patch distances, while staying backward compatible with Cat 6 and Cat 5e equipment.

Highly flexible
The thin, supple cable bends tightly around rack cable managers and into crowded port rows without levering on the RJ45 jacks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Wantec 7228 work with my switch, router or PC?
Yes. It is a standard RJ45-to-RJ45 Cat 6A patch cable wired 1:1, so it connects any Ethernet port — switch, router, patch panel, NAS, PC or access point — with no configuration. It is backward compatible with Cat 6 and Cat 5e ports.
Is the 7228 suitable for 10 Gigabit Ethernet in a server rack?
Yes. The 7228 is a Cat 6A cord, the category designed for 10GBASE-T, and at 0.5 m it is well within the short patch lengths slim cables are intended for. For electrically noisy environments a shielded S/FTP cord is the safer choice.
What is the difference between the 7228 and a standard 6 mm Cat 6A patch cable?
Both carry Cat 6A Ethernet, but the 7228 is only 2.8 mm thick and unshielded, so it packs far more densely and bends more easily. A standard 6 mm S/FTP cord adds full shielding and a thicker conductor, which is better for long runs, noisy areas and high-power PoE.
What do I need to know before buying the 7228?
Check the length first: this cable is 0.5 m end to end, including the plugs. It is an unshielded extra-slim cord, so use it for short in-rack patching rather than long structured-cabling runs, and pair it with a shielded cord where interference or 802.3bt PoE is a concern.
Singular Expert Insight
Extra-slim 2.8 mm cords like the Wantec 7228 are our go-to for crowded patch fields: a 48-port panel patched with 6 mm cords turns into a wall of cable, while slim cords keep port labels readable and airflow open in front of your network switches. For links that need shielding or high-power PoE, step up to a standard S/FTP Cat 6A cord such as the DIGITUS DK-1644-A range or EFB EC6000A.

Buyer's Guide

Buy it if
You patch 0.5 m links in a dense rack and want thin, flexible Cat 6A cords that keep the switch front tidy.
Skip it if
You need shielding, a published PoE class for 802.3bt devices or runs well beyond patch length.
Also consider
Wantec 1 m versions in the same colour for longer hops, or a standard 6 mm S/FTP Cat 6A cord for noisy or PoE-heavy links.
