WD Gold WD242KRYZ — 24TB Enterprise Class SATA HDD
24 TBSATA 6 Gb/s7200 RPMCMR · 512 MB
The Western Digital WD Gold WD242KRYZ is a 24 TB enterprise-class 3.5-inch SATA hard drive built for round-the-clock data-centre, server and NAS storage. Spinning at 7200 RPM with a 512 MB cache over a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, it combines HelioSeal helium sealing, OptiNAND and CMR recording for high capacity and sustained reliability. Identified by part number WD242KRYZ (EAN 0718037904931), it is rated for demanding 550 TB/year workloads and a 2.5-million-hour MTBF. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility & Setup
This is a bare internal 3.5-inch SATA drive — install it in a free 3.5-inch bay with a SATA data and power connection. It suits enterprise NAS, servers and hardware or software RAID controllers that support 24 TB SATA drives. No mounting screws, cables or backplane are included, and the drive ships unformatted, so you initialise it in your host system before use.
Best For
✓Enterprise NAS and rack servers
✓Data centres and private cloud
✓Hardware and software RAID arrays
✓24/7 high-capacity primary storage
✓Backup, archival and content repositories
✓Virtualization and heavy multi-user workloads
Key Features
OptiNAND + ArmorCache
Embedded iNAND flash stores drive metadata to lift areal density to 24 TB, while ArmorCache safeguards the write cache during unexpected power loss in both write-cache-enabled and disabled modes.
HelioSeal + CMR
The helium-sealed platform cuts internal friction and power draw, and CMR (conventional magnetic recording) keeps write performance and RAID rebuild times consistent — with none of the sustained-write slowdown seen on SMR drives.
Enterprise workload rating
Rated for 550 TB/year of transfers and a 2.5-million-hour MTBF, engineered for continuous 24/7 duty and rotational-vibration resilience in dense multi-bay chassis.
5-year limited warranty
Backed by a 5-year limited warranty for data-centre-grade assurance on mission-critical deployments.

Singular Expert Insight
At 24 TB the WD Gold is among the highest-capacity CMR SATA drives available, sitting well above desktop and NAS-class disks: its 550 TB/year workload rating and 2.5-million-hour MTBF outclass WD Red Pro and WD Blue for server duty. If you are populating a server, SAN or RAID enclosure, pair it with matching drives from our enterprise/server HDD range. If your priority is latency over raw capacity, an enterprise SSD is the alternative — but for cost-per-terabyte at scale, this 24 TB WD Gold is hard to beat.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need 24 TB of CMR capacity per bay for a server or NAS
You run 24/7 workloads of up to 550 TB/year
You want a 5-year warranty and 2.5M-hour MTBF
Skip it if
You only need occasional desktop backup — WD Blue or Red costs less
Your controller cannot address 24 TB drives
You need sub-millisecond latency — choose an enterprise SSD
