WD My Book Duo 16TB — Desktop RAID Storage
16 TB (2x 8TB)USB-C 3.1 Gen 1RAID 0 / 1 / JBOD256-bit AES Hardware
The WD My Book Duo (WDBFBE0160JBK) is a 16TB two-bay desktop RAID storage array with two 8TB RAID-optimised WD Red drives, USB-C connectivity and always-on 256-bit AES hardware encryption, built for creators and professionals who need large, fast and secure desktop storage. The part number WDBFBE0160JBK identifies the 16TB model in the My Book Duo range. It ships in RAID 0 for the full 16TB and high speed, and can be switched to RAID 1 for mirrored protection, with two USB Type-A hub ports for connecting extra accessories. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Before you buy — RAID mode & encryption
Out of the box the drive is in RAID 0, which combines both disks for 16TB and speed but offers no redundancy — if one disk fails, data is lost. Switch to RAID 1 (8TB mirrored) using WD Drive Utilities if you need backup protection. Hardware encryption is always on; set a password with WD Security. This is a mains-powered desktop unit, ships NTFS-formatted, and uses a USB-C cable.
Best For
✓Large 4K/8K video and photo archives
✓RAID 1 mirrored backups for redundancy
✓Creative professionals with big project files
✓Secure desktop storage with encryption
✓Small office or home shared storage
✓Daisy-chaining accessories via USB hub ports
Key Features
16TB with flexible RAID
Two 8TB WD Red drives give 16TB in RAID 0 for speed, or 8TB in RAID 1 for mirrored redundancy, reconfigurable with WD Drive Utilities.
Always-on hardware encryption
Built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption is always active; set a password with WD Security to keep your data private even if the drive is lost.
Fast USB-C connectivity
A USB Type-C port (USB 3.1 Gen 1) delivers up to 360 MB/s sequential reads, and two USB Type-A hub ports add connectivity for other devices.
RAID-optimised WD Red drives
The enclosure ships with WD Red drives engineered for reliable, sustained performance in always-on RAID storage.

Singular Expert Insight
The My Book Duo is direct-attached desktop RAID, not a network drive: it connects to one computer over USB-C rather than your LAN, which makes it simpler and faster for a single workstation but not a shared network server. If you need multi-user access over the network, look at a proper NAS or RAID storage appliance instead. For a single creative workstation that needs big, secure, fast storage, though, the My Book Duo is excellent value, especially with the option to mirror your data in RAID 1.
Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You need large 16TB desktop storage for one workstation, want RAID 1 mirroring for safety, and value always-on hardware encryption over USB-C.
Skip it if
You need network access for multiple users (get a NAS), portability, or SSD speed — this is a mains-powered desktop HDD array.
Also consider
A NAS appliance for shared network storage, a single My Book for simpler backups, or the 24TB My Book Duo for more capacity.
