WD My Book 8TB Desktop Hard Drive (Encrypted)
High-capacity desktop backup storage with built-in hardware encryption.
8 TB USB 3.0 / 3.2 Gen 1 256-bit AES Desktop (AC powered)
The WD My Book, part number WDBBGB0080HBK-EESN, is an 8TB 3.5-inch desktop external hard drive with a USB 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen 1) interface and built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption, built for large backups and media archives that stay on your desk. It is mains-powered through the included AC adapter (it is not a bus-powered portable drive) and pairs with WD Backup for Windows, Apple Time Machine for Mac and Acronis True Image WD Edition. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus. Compared with portable drives such as the WD Elements or My Passport, the My Book trades pocket portability for far higher capacity, a mains power supply and desk-based reliability.

Singular Expert Insight
For a desk-based backup hub, the My Book gives you the most capacity per euro and adds genuine hardware encryption that portable Elements drives lack. The trade-offs are real: it needs a mains outlet and is not something you slip into a bag, and because the encryption is tied to the enclosure, a failed enclosure can make data hard to recover — so always keep a second copy of anything important. If you want the same security in a pocket form, look at the WD My Passport; if you only need plain capacity to carry around, an Elements portable is cheaper.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if You want a high-capacity 8TB desktop backup drive with password protection and 256-bit AES hardware encryption. | Skip it if You need a pocket-portable, bus-powered drive, or SSD-class speed rather than high-capacity desktop storage. | Also consider A WD My Passport for portable encrypted storage, or a smaller-capacity My Book if 8TB is more than you need. |
