Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games directly from the P40?
You can play PS4 and Xbox One games directly from the drive. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S titles must be stored/archived on the P40 and moved back to internal storage to play, since next-gen games require the console’s internal SSD.
Does the P40 reach 2,000 MB/s on any port?
To reach up to 2,000 MB/s the P40 needs a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gb/s) port. On a 10 Gb/s Gen 2 port it runs at up to ~1,050 MB/s, and on older ports at their maximum rate.
Can I control the RGB lighting?
Yes. The RGB lighting is customizable through the WD_BLACK dashboard software, letting you choose colours and effects to match your gaming setup.
What do I need to know before buying the P40?
It ships with both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. It works with consoles, PC and Mac; formatting may be required depending on the platform you use it with.
Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Buyer’s Guide
Choose the P40 if
You want a fast (up to 2,000 MB/s) gaming SSD with RGB lighting to expand console and PC storage on a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 device.
Consider a WD_BLACK C50 if
You specifically need an Xbox-licensed expansion card for native Series X|S play rather than a portable USB drive.
Consider higher capacity if
You keep a large game library — check whether a higher-capacity P40 better fits your needs before choosing the 2 TB model.
