Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE 16 Torque Extra Slim 1 — insulated 1.2–3.0 Nm torque handle with 14 slim VDE blades

1.2–3.0 Nm, +/-6%1000 V, tested at 10,000 VIEC 6090012 of 14 blades reduced diameter

The Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE 16 Torque 1.2-3.0 Nm extra slim 1 (part number 05006609001) is a 16-piece insulated set that adds torque control to electrical terminal work. It pairs the 7441 VDE adjustable torque handle, covering 1.2 to 3.0 Nm at an accuracy of plus or minus 6 percent in accordance with EN ISO 6789, with an 817 VDE blade-holding handle and fourteen interchangeable VDE blades at 157 mm. Every item is individually tested at 10,000 V in accordance with IEC 60900 for approved working at 1,000 V. Wera aims it at terminal blocks, control cabinets, switches, relays and sockets. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The torque handle itself is VDE insulated, individually tested at 10,000 V per IEC 60900, so torque work does not mean putting down the insulated tools. Torque is adjustable by hand on a scale on the handle, not preset, and the tool gives a distinctly audible and noticeable excess-load signal when the preset value is reached. Note the accuracy is plus or minus 6 percent to EN ISO 6789, which is a controlled assembly figure rather than a laboratory calibration. Extra slim means reduced blade diameter, and Wera states 12 of the 14 blades are reduced diameter; the exceptions are the 0.4 x 2.5 slotted and the TX 10. Inspect insulation before every use as IEC 60900 practice requires.

Best For

✓ Terminal blocks with a specified tightening torque
✓ Control cabinet and switchgear assembly
✓ Switches, relays and socket outlets
✓ Electricians who must document terminal torque
✓ Recessed screws and spring elements
✓ Panel builders and commissioning engineers

Key Features

VDE-insulated torque handle, 1.2 to 3.0 Nm
The 7441 VDE covers 1.2 to 3.0 Nm at plus or minus 6 percent in accordance with EN ISO 6789 and, unlike a bare torque screwdriver, is itself individually tested at 10,000 V per IEC 60900 for approved 1,000 V work.

Set by hand, signals clearly
The required torque is set simply by hand using an easy-to-read scale on the handle, with no special tool needed. Wera specifies a distinctly audible and noticeable excess-load signal when the preset torque is reached, so you feel and hear the stop.

Fourteen slim VDE blades
The same blade range as Wera’s VDE 17 set: slotted 2.5, 3.5, 4 and 5.5 mm, PH 1 and PH 2, PZ 1 and PZ 2, PZ/S 1 and 2, and TORX TX 10, 15, 20 and 25, all at 157 mm. Twelve of the fourteen have reduced blade diameter so they reach sunken screws and spring elements.

817 VDE handle for untorqued work
A standard 817 VDE blade-holding handle is included alongside the torque handle, so ordinary screwdriving does not tie up the torque tool. Both handles take Wera VDE blades only, with Take it easy colour coding by profile and laser-engraved sizes.

Manufacturer Term Wera publishes no warranty term for this set on its European pages, and its US limited lifetime wording excludes torque tools, so it is not transferred here. Wera advises checking or recalibrating a torque tool after no more than 5000 loads or every 12 months at the latest. Singular’s direct warranty is 1 year; beyond that we assist you with the manufacturer’s warranty process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the torque handle itself insulated?
Yes. The 7441 VDE is individually tested at 10,000 volts in accordance with IEC 60900 and approved for safe working with loads up to 1,000 volts, so you do not have to swap to an uninsulated torque screwdriver to hit a specified terminal value.
Is the torque preset or adjustable?
Adjustable. Wera describes simple setting of the required torque by hand using an easy-to-read scale on the handle, with no special tool required. A distinctly audible and noticeable excess-load signal marks the moment the preset value is reached.
How accurate is it, and does it need recalibration?
Wera specifies plus or minus 6 percent in accordance with EN ISO 6789. That is a controlled assembly tolerance, not a certified laboratory value. Wera advises treating torque tools as measuring devices and having them checked or recalibrated after no more than 5000 loads, or every 12 months at the latest.
How does this differ from the VDE 17 extra slim set?
The blade range is the same fourteen slim VDE blades. The VDE 17 set supplies two 817 handles plus a Knipex VDE installation pliers, while this one swaps the second handle and the pliers for the 7441 VDE torque handle. Choose by whether you need pliers or a documented tightening value.
Singular Expert Insight
Terminal torque has quietly become a compliance issue rather than a nicety: manufacturers print a value on the block, loose terminals cause the majority of connection failures and over-tightened ones crack the housing. What makes this set worth its price over a bare torque screwdriver is that the 7441 handle is itself VDE tested at 10,000 V, so the torque step does not become the one moment in the job where you pick up an uninsulated tool. Be clear-eyed about the tolerance, though: plus or minus 6 percent to EN ISO 6789 is an assembly figure, and if your documentation needs a certified value you need a calibration certificate and a service interval. If you want pliers rather than torque in the same pouch, the VDE 17 extra slim set is the sibling to compare. Browse our Cable Tools and Testers range for the rest of the electrical hand-tool line-up, or the wider Cables and Accessories section for the cable and terminals themselves.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You tighten terminals to a specified value between 1.2 and 3.0 Nm on live-adjacent equipment and want the torque handle itself to be a 1,000 V VDE tool.

Skip it if

You need torque above 3 Nm, you need a certified calibration certificate out of the box, or you would rather have the Knipex pliers than the torque handle.

Also consider

The Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE 17 extra slim 1, the same blade range with a second handle and Knipex VDE pliers instead of the torque handle, or the Click-Torque A 6 Set 1 at 2.5 to 25 Nm for uninsulated mechanical work.
