Yeastar TA200 — 2-Port FXS Analogue Telephone Adapter

2 x FXS RJ111 x 10/100 LANSIP RFC 3261Micro-USB 5 V powered

The Yeastar TA200 is a compact analogue telephone adapter that puts two analogue phones or fax machines onto a SIP phone system, and it is aimed at home offices, small branch sites and anyone left with a couple of legacy handsets that still has to work after the move to VoIP. It is ordered under code TA200_FXS and belongs to Yeastar’s TA Series, the analogue-to-IP range built around the same firmware and web interface, so a TA200 behaves like its larger and smaller siblings and only the port count changes. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a gateway, not a phone system. It needs an existing SIP server — a Yeastar PBX, a hosted VoIP provider or any RFC 3261 platform — and one SIP account per FXS port. Power comes from the supplied micro-USB adapter at 5 V 1 A, so allow for a free mains socket: there is no PoE on this model. Yeastar publishes G.711 and G.729A/B for the TA100 and TA200 and does not document T.38 fax relay on them, so a fax machine here runs as G.711 pass-through — fine on a clean local network, but not the right choice if dependable fax over a busy or long-haul link is the whole reason for buying. For documented T.38, step up to the TA800 or a larger TA gateway. There is one Ethernet port and no PC pass-through, so the adapter takes a switch port of its own.

Best For

✓ Keeping analogue handsets alive after a move to VoIP
✓ Home offices and single-desk branch sites
✓ Cordless DECT bases with only an RJ11 socket
✓ Adding analogue extensions to a Yeastar or third-party PBX
✓ Overhead paging amplifiers and door phones with analogue ports
✓ Trying a SIP trunk before committing to IP handsets

Key Features

A normal phone, on a modern system
The 2 RJ11 FXS ports register to your SIP platform and the handset behaves exactly as it always did: dial tone, caller ID, call waiting, hold, attended transfer, three-way conference, speed dial and distinctive ringtones all work from the phone itself, with no app and nothing for the user to learn.

Small enough to forget about
At 85 x 58 x 24 mm and powered over micro-USB, it hides behind the phone or under the desk. Networking is properly grown-up for the size — DHCP, static IP or PPPoE, VLAN tagging and DiffServ QoS so voice keeps priority on a shared office link.

Managed like the rest of the range
Configuration is a web GUI, and the adapter supports FTP, TFTP and HTTP auto-provisioning plus direct auto-provisioning with a Yeastar VoIP PBX, so rolling out several is not a per-unit chore. TLS and SRTP secure signalling and audio, and a built-in firewall with IP blacklisting keeps scanners off it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Yeastar TA200 work with any SIP phone system?
Yes, as long as the platform is standard SIP (RFC 3261) — that covers Yeastar PBX systems, most hosted VoIP providers, 3CX, Asterisk-based systems and similar. You register one SIP account per FXS port, so two accounts in total. With a Yeastar PBX the adapter can also be auto-provisioned, which saves entering credentials by hand.
Can I send and receive faxes through it?
You can connect a fax machine, but treat it with realistic expectations. Yeastar does not publish T.38 fax relay for the TA100 and TA200, so fax travels as G.711 audio pass-through. On a quiet local network to a nearby PBX that usually works; across a congested internet link or a long-haul SIP trunk it is unreliable, and the TA800 or a larger TA gateway with documented T.38 is the correct answer if fax genuinely matters.
What is the difference between the TA100 and the TA200?
Only the number of analogue ports: the TA100 has one FXS port and the TA200 has two. Casing, power supply, firmware, web interface, codecs and network features are identical, so the choice is simply how many analogue devices you need to connect. If you need four or more, the TA400 and TA800 gateways cost far less per port than stacking adapters.
What do I need before installing one?
SIP account credentials from your PBX or provider, a free 10/100 switch port and a mains socket for the supplied USB power adapter — there is no PoE. You will also want to know whether your network uses a voice VLAN, since the adapter supports VLAN tagging and getting that right up front avoids one-way audio later.
Singular Expert Insight
The TA200 exists to solve a small, stubborn problem: the handful of devices that cannot become an IP phone — a DECT base, a paging amplifier, a door station, a handset someone refuses to give up. For that it is exactly right, and cheap. What it is not is a fax solution: Yeastar reserves documented T.38 for the TA800 and larger gateways, and buying an ATA in the hope that fax will simply work is the single most common disappointment with this class of product. It is also worth doing the arithmetic before you buy several — at two ports each, one more device and a TA400 or TA800 is both cheaper per port and one thing to manage instead of four. The sibling TA100 is the same unit with one port if your count is different. You can compare the whole range in our VoIP Accessories category, and if the analogue lines are moving onto a network that also has to carry IP handsets, budget for decent network switches at the same time — voice quality problems on a gateway are far more often a network issue than a gateway issue.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You have one or two analogue devices that must survive the move to VoIP, you already run a SIP platform, and you want it working in ten minutes for very little money. The web GUI and Yeastar PBX auto-provisioning make it a genuinely quick job.

Skip it if

Fax reliability is the reason you are buying — T.38 is not published for this model. Skip it too if you need PoE, if you want more than two analogue ports, or if you have no SIP server for it to register to, because this is a gateway and not a phone system in itself.

Also consider

The TA100 is the same adapter with a single FXS port. From four analogue devices upward the TA400 and TA800 gateways add documented T.38 fax, IAX2 and a wider codec list, and work out cheaper per port than buying multiple adapters.
