The Zebra P1027135-040 is the genuine standard thermal transfer platen roller for Zebra’s G-Series desktop label printers: the GK420t and GX420t (203 dpi) and the GX430t (300 dpi). Zebra lists it in the G-Series R2.0 spare parts list as “Platen, Std (Thermal Transfer)”.
The platen is the rubber drive roller under the printhead. When it wears, labels slip or skew, ribbon wrinkles and print fades on one side. Zebra advises replacing the platen if sticking or jamming continues after cleaning.
Before you order: Thermal transfer G-Series only. The direct thermal GK420d and GX420d use a different platen (P1027135-039). Check the model on the label under your printer: a “t” at the end means thermal transfer.

- The GK420 user guide shows the platen being released and lifted out; the bearings and drive gear move across from the old roller.
- Clean the old roller with 99% isopropyl alcohol first; replace it if jams or slipping continue.
What Will Not Work
- It will not fit direct thermal GK420d / GX420d printers — Zebra uses P1027135-039 there.
- It will not fit ZD-series, GC420 or industrial printers.
- It will not fix fixed white lines caused by a damaged printhead.
