The Zebra ZD621d (ZD6A042-D1EF00EZ) is a 4-inch direct thermal desktop label printer for retail, healthcare, logistics and light manufacturing teams that print shipping, receipt-style and short-life labels without ribbons.

This configuration prints at 203 dpi up to 104 mm wide and 203 mm/s, peels each label from its liner with a factory-fitted dispenser, status icons instead of an LCD screen, and connects over USB, Ethernet, serial and Bluetooth Low Energy for app-based setup.

Before you order: This is the version without an LCD screen: setup is done through Zebra’s mobile app (BLE) or from a PC. Choose the LCD version if staff need on-screen menus at the printer.

What It Means in Practice

  • Direct thermal: no ribbon to buy or change, which keeps running costs low for shipping, picking and short-life labels; printed labels fade over time with heat and sunlight.
  • Media: labels 15–108 mm wide on rolls up to 127 mm diameter, 12.7 or 25.4 mm core (larger cores with an adapter kit), 0.08–0.19 mm thick.
  • Peel-and-present: the dispenser separates each label from the liner and presents it ready to apply, waiting until it is taken before printing the next — ideal for print-and-apply at a bench or counter.
  • Integration: ZPL II and EPL2 are built in, so existing Zebra label formats, drivers and business systems print without changes.
  • Connectivity: USB, USB host, 10/100 Ethernet and RS-232 are standard; a Wi-Fi 6 / Bluetooth 5.3 module can be added later.
  • Setup: without an LCD, configuration runs through Zebra’s mobile setup app over BLE, the web page or driver; status icons show media, ribbon and errors.

What Will Not Work

  • Cutting: the peeler dispenses labels one by one; it does not cut continuous media. A cutter is a different option.
  • Ribbon printing: direct thermal only — for long-life, heat- or sun-exposed labels choose the thermal transfer ZD621t.
  • Wi-Fi: not included. Wireless printing needs the optional Wi-Fi 6 / Bluetooth 5.3 module.
  • Very small print: for tiny text or small 2D codes choose the 300 dpi version.
