Zebra ZD621R — 4-inch desktop RFID label printer with UHF encoder, 203 dpi, Wi-Fi
UHF RFID203 dpi · thermal transferColour touch LCDWi-Fi + Bluetooth
The Zebra ZD621R (ZD6A142-30ELR2EZ) is a 4-inch desktop label printer with a built-in UHF RFID reader/encoder: it prints 203 dpi labels by thermal transfer (or direct thermal) and encodes the RFID inlay in the same pass, for retail item tagging, asset labels, healthcare and supply-chain RFID projects.
It has the large 4.3-inch colour touch LCD, Ethernet, serial, USB and USB Host, plus Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth — so it can sit on the network or connect to a phone or tablet. Zebra’s Adaptive Encoding Technology removes the need for placement guidelines, and it is RFID-certified for use in more than 70 countries.
Before you order: RFID encoding only works with UHF (EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-63) RFID labels — HF/NFC tags are not supported. Plain labels print normally, without encoding.
What's in the Box
- Zebra ZD621R printer (ZD6A142-30ELR2EZ)
- AC power supply and power cord(s)
- USB cable
- Quick start guide and regulatory guide
- Empty ribbon take-up cores and adapters for non-Zebra 300 m ribbons
What It Means in Practice
- Print and encode in one step: every label leaves with the barcode printed and the RFID chip written and verified.
- Takes both 74 m and 300 m ribbons, so high-volume sites change ribbons less often.
- Wi-Fi lets you place it anywhere in a store or stockroom without running a cable.
- At 203 dpi it suits standard shipping, asset and retail labels; for very small text choose a 300 dpi model.
What Will Not Work
- RFID tags other than UHF Gen2 (e.g. HF/NFC) cannot be encoded.
- No cutter or peeler as supplied — they are optional factory or field upgrades.
- Ribbons wider than 109.2 mm or rolls larger than 127 mm OD do not fit.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The ZD621R is the simplest way to start RFID tagging: one desktop printer that prints, encodes and verifies. Get the inlay choice right first — it matters more than the printer. Network printers are best on a reliable wired network — we also supply
network switches.
✓ Buy it if you are rolling out UHF RFID for retail, assets or logistics and want print-and-encode at a desk.
✕ Skip it if you only need plain barcode labels (a ZD621t or ZD421t costs less) or use HF/NFC tags.
→ Also consider the ZD621t (no RFID) for plain labels, and Zebra RFID label media for the ZD621R.
Send us your label size, media and the software you print from — we will confirm the right printer and consumables before you order.
