The Zyxel SFP-1000T (order code 91-010-172001B) is a copper SFP module that turns a Gigabit SFP slot into an RJ-45 port, reaching up to 100 m over twisted-pair cable. It is the simple way to connect a nearby server, NAS, access point or camera recorder to a free SFP slot on a Zyxel switch or firewall. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Zyxel publishes it as a Gigabit module and does not list 10/100 Mbps, so older Fast Ethernet devices may not link. It needs a Gigabit SFP slot.
