The Zyxel SFP10G-SR (ordering code SFP10G-SR-ZZ0101F) is a 10 Gbit SFP+ transceiver for multimode fibre, running at 850 nm up to 300 m over a duplex LC connection, with digital diagnostics (DDMI). It is the short-reach 10G optic for Zyxel switches, used for uplinks and server links inside a building. In practice, multimode optics are the cheaper choice for links inside one building: most server rooms and floor risers already carry OM3 or OM4 fibre, and the module plus a short LC patch cord is all a port needs. Before you order, check the fibre grade printed on the cable jacket and the real length of the run, including patch panels.
Compatibility — check before buying:
It is 10G multimode only; the 300 m figure is Zyxel’s maximum, and shorter reach applies on older fibre. This article is one module — the SFP10G-SR-E is the same optic as a 10-pack. For single-mode fibre choose the SFP10G-LR (10 km), and for RJ-45 copper the SFP10G-T. Zyxel lists supported transceivers per switch on its website.
