The Zyxel SFP10G-T (order code SFP10G-T-ZZ0101F) is an SFP+ module that turns a 10G SFP+ slot on a Zyxel switch into a 10GBASE-T RJ-45 port, reaching up to 30 m. It connects 10G servers, NAS units and workstations to a fibre switch over copper, without a separate media converter. It is a practical way to use the spare SFP+ slots of a Zyxel switch for a nearby copper device, without adding a media converter and a second power supply to the rack. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The reach is 30 m, not the 100 m of a built-in 10GBASE-T port. Zyxel’s store page does not state the cable grade or any 1G, 2.5G or 5G modes, so plan Cat6a and ask us before connecting a slower device. Copper SFP+ modules run warm; in small fanless switches, check with us first. For fibre, Zyxel’s SFP10G-SR (multimode, 300 m) and SFP10G-LR (single-mode, 10 km) are the siblings. Not sure?
