The DYMO Rhino 18053 is a 9 mm x 1.5 m cartridge of white, flame-retardant polyolefin heat shrink tubing that you print black text onto with a DYMO Rhino industrial label maker, then slide over a wire or cable and shrink with a heat gun for a permanent wrap-around marker.
Unlike a flag or wrap label, a printed heat shrink sleeve cannot peel off: it shrinks at a 3:1 ratio and grips the cable, so the identification survives pulling, oil and heat in panels, data cabinets and machines. The 9 mm width suits thinner wires and patch or control cables.
Before you order: Works only in DYMO Rhino industrial label makers and the other printers DYMO lists for this cartridge (DYMO Rhino 1000, 1800, 3000, 4200, 5000, 5200, 6000, 6000+; DYMO ILP 219; 3M PL100, PL150, PL300). It does not fit DYMO LabelManager (D1) or LetraTag machines, and you need a heat gun to shrink it. The sleeve must be slid over the cable before termination or connector fitting.

What It Means in Practice
- 3:1 shrink ratio: the sleeve shrinks to a third of its supplied diameter, so one size covers a wider range of cable diameters than a 2:1 tube.
- Flame-retardant polyolefin, UL Recognized to UL224, meeting SAE-AMS-DTL-23053/5 classes 1 and 3 according to DYMO’s technical data sheet.
- Maximum operating temperature 125 °C, so markers stay intact in warm cabinets and engine bays.
- Typical uses: wire and cable identification in electrical panels, data centres, telecom racks, machinery and vehicles.
What Will Not Work
- DYMO LabelManager, LetraTag and LabelWriter machines — this is a Rhino industrial (IND) cartridge.
- Cables already terminated with large connectors — heat shrink must go on before the end is fitted.
- Without a heat gun the tube will not shrink; a lighter will scorch the print and is not a substitute.
- DYMO does not publish a cable-diameter range per size on the product page — tell us your cable OD and we will suggest the right width.
