How to choose a privacy filter
- Exact size and ratio. Filters are made for a specific diagonal and aspect ratio (16:9 or 16:10). A 14-inch 16:9 filter does not fit a 14-inch 16:10 screen. For MacBooks and many business laptops there are model-specific filters; use them when available.
- Fitting. Magnetic filters suit MacBooks and laptops with a metal bezel and come off easily. Adhesive tabs or strips work on any screen. Edge-to-edge filters cover frameless displays.
- 2-way or 4-way. 2-way filters block side views left and right. 4-way filters also block views from above and below, useful for tablets and phones used in portrait.
- Touchscreens. On touch laptops choose a filter that supports touch or a flip-up model.
