How to choose a monitor arm or mount
- Check VESA and weight first. Look up the VESA hole pattern on the back of the screen (for example 75 x 75, 100 x 100 or 400 x 400) and its weight. The mount must support both, and the screen size range.
- Desk arms. Gas spring arms move the screen with one hand and suit shared desks; fixed-height poles are cheaper. Check the desk clamp range or use a grommet mount through the desk. Curved and ultrawide monitors are heavier than they look.
- Wall mounts. Fixed mounts sit flat; tilting mounts reduce glare; full-motion mounts swing out for corners. Use fixings suitable for your wall type.
- Floor and ceiling. Mobile floor stands move large displays between meeting rooms; ceiling mounts suit receptions and waiting areas.
- Monitor without VESA? Some slim monitors need a VESA adapter kit from the monitor maker.
