PLANET VC-234 Ethernet over VDSL2 Bridge
Up to 100/100 Mbps4× 10/100 LANProfile 30aCPE / CO modes
The PLANET VC-234 is a 4-port Ethernet over VDSL2 bridge that extends a LAN over ordinary telephone-grade copper wiring, far beyond the 100 m limit of standard Ethernet. Using VDSL2 Profile 30a, it delivers up to 100/100 Mbps symmetric within 300 m and still reaches around 20/4 Mbps at up to 1.4 km. Supplied under part number VC-234 (EAN 4711213687112), it provides four 10/100 Ethernet ports plus RJ-11 jacks for the VDSL line and POTS pass-through. It is a wired long-reach extender — not a Wi-Fi router. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Important — used in pairs
The VC-234 works point-to-point and must be deployed as a matched pair: one unit set to CO (central) and one to CPE (client) via the DIP switch. A single unit cannot form a link on its own. It is a Layer-2 bridge with no Wi-Fi and no routing — connect it to your existing router or switch. All ports are 10/100 Mbps (the VC-234G is the Gigabit sibling).
Best For
✓Extending a LAN beyond 100 m over copper
✓Linking two buildings via existing phone lines
✓CCTV / IP cameras at distant sites
✓Elevators, gates and remote cabinets
✓Reusing legacy telephone wiring for data
✓POTS phone pass-through on the same line
Key Features
Long-reach Ethernet
Carries Ethernet over telephone copper far past the 100 m Cat cable limit — up to 1.4 km — ideal where running new network cable is impractical.
Symmetric VDSL2 30a
Profile 30a delivers up to 100/100 Mbps symmetric within 300 m, so upload and download stay balanced for cameras, VoIP and site links.
4-port switch
Four 10/100 Ethernet ports connect multiple local devices at the remote end without adding a separate switch.
POTS pass-through
A second RJ-11 jack passes through analogue telephone (POTS), letting voice and data share the same line pair.

Singular Expert Insight
The VC-234 solves a very specific problem — getting Ethernet somewhere that is too far for a network cable — by reusing existing telephone wiring. Remember to buy two units for each link. If you need Gigabit speeds over the same copper, choose the VC-234G. Behind each end you can add a network switch to fan out more wired devices.
Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You need to extend a LAN over existing copper/phone wiring beyond 100 m, in a point-to-point pair, at up to 100/100 Mbps.
Skip it if
You want a Wi-Fi router or a single plug-in device — this is a wired bridge that only works as a CO+CPE pair, with no wireless or routing.
