Poly Blackwire 8225 — Wired Stereo USB-C Headset with Hybrid ANC
Three levels of hybrid ANCWired USB-C, no battery to chargeAcoustic Fence microphoneTeams Open Office and Zoom certified
The Poly Blackwire 8225 is a wired stereo office headset that plugs straight into a USB-C port and stays powered by it, so there is no battery to run flat halfway through an afternoon of calls. It covers both ears with 32 mm drivers and adds hybrid active noise cancellation at three selectable levels, which is the feature that separates it from the rest of Poly’s wired range. Part number 8X223AA is the UC build, certified for Microsoft Teams Open Office and for Zoom.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB headset. HP publishes no 3.5 mm option, so it will not plug into a desk phone headset port or a phone jack. The cable terminates in USB-C and a USB-C to USB-A adapter is in the box, so both modern laptops and older desktops are covered. The three ANC levels, the Acoustic Fence microphone behaviour and SoundGuard Digital are configured through Poly Lens, a free download — out of the box it behaves as a plain USB headset until Lens is installed. Tell us your platform and we will confirm which build suits your rollout.
Best For
✓ Open-plan offices where ANC actually matters
✓ All-day call work with no battery to manage
✓ Teams Open Office and Zoom deployments
✓ Shared desks and hot-desking rollouts
✓ Staff who want both ears covered
✓ IT teams standardising on Poly Lens management
Key Features
Hybrid ANC you can dial in
Three selectable levels of advanced hybrid ANC let you choose between full isolation and enough awareness to hear a colleague. The setting lives in Poly Lens, so an IT team can standardise it across a floor.
Acoustic Fence on the microphone
Poly Acoustic Fence draws a boundary around your voice and keeps the conversation at the next desk out of the call. Published microphone bandwidth is 100 Hz to 10 kHz.
Wired means always ready
Power comes from the USB port, so the headset cannot be flat when a call lands. The full span from connector to headset is 219 cm, enough to stand up from a desk without unplugging.
Built for a full working day
32 mm drivers, 32 ohm impedance and artificial-leather cushions, with SoundGuard Digital limiting sudden spikes. The boom is 135 mm long and rotates 280 degrees so it works on either side.

Singular Expert Insight
Most wired office headsets cancel noise on the microphone, which helps the person you are calling and does nothing for you. The Blackwire 8225 is the one in Poly’s wired line that does both: Acoustic Fence for the far end, and three levels of hybrid ANC for your own ears. That is the whole reason to pay more than a Blackwire 5220 or 3315 costs. Because it is wired, it also removes the one failure mode wireless headsets have — a flat battery at the start of a meeting. Compare it against the rest of Office & VoIP Headsets or, if you want the same noise cancellation without a cable, look at the Bluetooth models in Headphones.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You work in an open-plan office and need the room quietened for you, not just for your caller. You want a headset that is always charged because it never needs charging. Your team runs Teams Open Office or Zoom.
Skip it if
You need to move away from the desk during calls — this is a cable, not a radio. You need a 3.5 mm or desk-phone connection. You will not install Poly Lens, in which case you are paying for settings you cannot reach.
Also consider
Poly Voyager Focus 2 for the same three-level ANC without a cable. Poly Blackwire 5220 if you do not need ANC and want to spend less. The dedicated Microsoft Teams Certified Blackwire 8225 if your estate is Teams-first.
