The Poly Blackwire 8225 is a wired stereo office headset that plugs straight into a USB-C port and stays powered by it, so there is no battery to run flat halfway through an afternoon of calls. It covers both ears with 32 mm drivers and adds hybrid active noise cancellation at three selectable levels, which is the feature that separates it from the rest of Poly’s wired range. Part number 8X223AA is the UC build, certified for Microsoft Teams Open Office and for Zoom.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB headset. HP publishes no 3.5 mm option, so it will not plug into a desk phone headset port or a phone jack. The cable terminates in USB-C and a USB-C to USB-A adapter is in the box, so both modern laptops and older desktops are covered. The three ANC levels, the Acoustic Fence microphone behaviour and SoundGuard Digital are configured through Poly Lens, a free download — out of the box it behaves as a plain USB headset until Lens is installed.
