The SmartKeeper Essential Lockable Flash Drive (OM03OR) is a 32 GB USB Type-A drive with a built-in mechanical lock. Pressed into a USB-A port it locks in place and cannot be pulled out, and it is released only with the matching orange SmartKeeper Lock Key Basic (U03). It exists to stop a drive being walked off with — from a kiosk, a shared workstation, a display machine or a control panel.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things you must know before ordering. First, the key is not included. The drive locks itself into a port on a press, but releasing it requires the SmartKeeper Lock Key Basic U03 in the same orange pattern — a key of a different colour will not open it. If you do not already own one, order the orange key alongside the drive. Second, this is physical security, not data security. There is no encryption, no password and no PIN. Anyone who has the matching key, or who takes the whole machine, reads the files normally. If you need the contents protected rather than the drive retained, you need an encrypted drive instead.

Push the drive into a USB-A port and press the lock. The mechanism engages inside the port and the drive cannot be pulled out by hand. SmartKeeper describes it as a non-removable USB memory stick — the whole point is that it stays where you put it.
Colour is the lock pattern, not decoration
Each colour in the Essential range is a distinct lock pattern with its own matching key. This orange drive opens only with the orange Lock Key Basic (U03OR). That is deliberate: it lets one site issue different keys to different departments.
No software, no drivers
SmartKeeper states plainly that no software installation is required. The drive appears as a standard USB mass-storage device, and the locking is entirely mechanical, so nothing has to be maintained on the host machine.
