SmartKeeper Essential Lockable Flash Drive 32 GB — Orange
Locks into the USB port32 GBKey sold separatelyNo software needed
The SmartKeeper Essential Lockable Flash Drive (OM03OR) is a 32 GB USB Type-A drive with a built-in mechanical lock. Pressed into a USB-A port it locks in place and cannot be pulled out, and it is released only with the matching orange SmartKeeper Lock Key Basic (U03). It exists to stop a drive being walked off with — from a kiosk, a shared workstation, a display machine or a control panel.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Two things you must know before ordering. First, the key is not included. The drive locks itself into a port on a press, but releasing it requires the SmartKeeper Lock Key Basic U03 in the same orange pattern — a key of a different colour will not open it. If you do not already own one, order the orange key alongside the drive. Second, this is physical security, not data security. There is no encryption, no password and no PIN. Anyone who has the matching key, or who takes the whole machine, reads the files normally. If you need the contents protected rather than the drive retained, you need an encrypted drive instead.
Best For
✓ Kiosks, digital signage and display machines
✓ Shared or public workstations
✓ Industrial panels and machines that must keep a drive fitted
✓ Drives that must not be borrowed from a shared office
✓ Sites where removable media walks off
✓ Anywhere a drive needs to stay plugged in permanently
Key Features
Locks into the port on a press
Push the drive into a USB-A port and press the lock. The mechanism engages inside the port and the drive cannot be pulled out by hand. SmartKeeper describes it as a non-removable USB memory stick — the whole point is that it stays where you put it.
Colour is the lock pattern, not decoration
Each colour in the Essential range is a distinct lock pattern with its own matching key. This orange drive opens only with the orange Lock Key Basic (U03OR). That is deliberate: it lets one site issue different keys to different departments.
No software, no drivers
SmartKeeper states plainly that no software installation is required. The drive appears as a standard USB mass-storage device, and the locking is entirely mechanical, so nothing has to be maintained on the host machine.
Small and light enough to leave fitted
17 x 9 x 36.7 mm and 8 g. It sits close to the machine rather than protruding like a full-size drive, which matters when it is going to stay in the port for months.

Singular Expert Insight
This is a security accessory that happens to store files, and it should be judged that way. The value is that a drive left in a kiosk, a signage player, a shared PC or a machine panel cannot be pocketed by a passer-by, and that requires no software, no configuration and nothing running on the host. Two limits decide whether it fits. It is not a secure drive in the data sense — no encryption, no password — so it protects the hardware, not the contents. And the key is a separate purchase, colour-matched: a orange drive needs a orange key, so budget for at least one key per colour and keep a spare somewhere safe. Also worth checking at the point of order: SmartKeeper sells look-alike UL03 port blockers, which are plastic plugs that fill an empty port and hold no data at all, and a UCL03 data blocker which is not storage either. This listing is the OM03 flash drive.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need a USB drive to stay physically in a port — a kiosk, a display machine, a shared workstation, an industrial panel — and you are buying, or already own, the matching orange U03 key.
Skip it if
You expected encryption: there is none, and this protects the drive rather than the data. Skip it too if you will not buy the separate key, if you need a published transfer speed, or if you need more than 32 GB.
Also consider
SmartKeeper Lock Key Basic U03 in orange — order it with the drive, because you cannot release the lock without it. Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 if the requirement is really data confidentiality. A standard 32 GB drive if the port does not need locking.
