StarTech.com 156B6-PRIVACY-SCREEN 15.6" 16:10 Bright Laptop Privacy Filter

15.6" · 16:1075% light transmittance±30° privacy angle

The StarTech.com 156B6-PRIVACY-SCREEN is a bright privacy filter for 15.6-inch laptops with a 16:10 screen that narrows the viewing angle to ±30 degrees, so people beside you see a dark screen while you see a clear image. It is designed for travellers, hot-desk users and anyone handling confidential data in open offices, trains or cafés.

Microlouver technology with 75% light transmittance keeps the screen around 10% brighter than standard privacy filters, an independent lab test shows 47% blue-light reduction in the 380–450 nm range, and the anti-glare surface stays touch-compatible. The filter flips over to the back of the lid when you want to share the screen, and mounts with side tabs, adhesive strips or flip-over tabs without blocking the webcam or sensors.

Compatibility note: Sized for 15.6-inch 16:10 displays (approx. 336 x 210 mm). A 15.6-inch 16:9 laptop needs the 156LB-PRIVACY-SCREEN instead — check your screen aspect ratio before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still use the touchscreen with the 156B6-PRIVACY-SCREEN fitted?
Yes. The filter is ultra-thin and designed to preserve touch response, so taps and gestures work through it on touchscreen laptops.
Does the filter stop the laptop lid from closing?
No. It is thin enough to stay attached with the lid closed, and it does not cover the webcam or ambient-light sensors on slim-bezel displays.
Singular Expert Insight
A bright 75% filter is the right choice for users who keep the privacy screen on all day, because standard filters often get removed once people notice the dimmer image. The flip-over mount makes it easy to share the screen in meetings without peeling anything off. Browse our privacy filters and monitor filters for other sizes.
✓ Buy it if you use a 15.6-inch 16:10 laptop in public spaces and want privacy without a much darker screen.
✕ Skip it if your laptop is 16:9 or a different size — the filter must match the panel exactly.
→ Also consider the 156LB-PRIVACY-SCREEN for 15.6-inch 16:9 laptops, or the 16L6B-PRIVACY-SCREEN for 16-inch 16:10 models.
