It is a USB 2.0 drive and 4 GB is the smallest capacity Transcend makes in this range — which makes it a drive for one specific job rather than for general storage. Transcend backs it with a five-year limited warranty.

Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a USB 2.0 drive, not USB 3. It plugs into any modern port and works, but transfers at USB 2.0 speed whatever it is plugged into. At 4 GB that rarely matters — the whole drive fills in a few minutes — but be clear about what you are buying, because the JetFlash 350 body is identical in size to Transcend’s USB 3 drives: the JetFlash 700 and 730 measure 61.5 x 18.6 x 8.7 mm and weigh 8.5 g, the same figures to the tenth of a millimetre, and all are black. A photograph cannot tell them apart. One practical limit at this capacity: a 4 GB drive formatted FAT32 cannot hold a single file larger than 4 GB, and in practice the usable space is a little under the nominal figure — check your image size before buying this for installation media. This is a USB Type-A plug, so a phone would need an adapter that is not included, and the white version of this drive, the JetFlash 370, is made only in 32 GB and 64 GB.

Will a USB 2.0 drive still work in a modern laptop?
Yes. USB 2.0 devices work in USB 3 ports with no adapter and no drivers. Only the speed is unchanged — but on a 4 GB drive, filling it completely is a matter of a few minutes even at USB 2.0 rates.
How do I avoid buying this when I wanted a USB 3 drive?
Check the model number. The JetFlash 350 shares its exact dimensions and weight with the USB 3 JetFlash 700 and 730, and all three are black. Nothing in a photograph distinguishes them.
Why does it show less than 4 GB of space?
Because manufacturers count a gigabyte as 1,000,000,000 bytes while operating systems count 1,073,741,824, and some space goes to the file system. That is normal for every drive from every brand, and it is more noticeable at small capacities.
