Compatibility — check before buying:
The UDM-Beast has no PoE output. Ubiquiti publishes no PoE budget and lists no PoE ports for it — every UniFi access point and camera you attach needs a separate PoE switch or injector, so budget for that alongside the gateway. The two 3.5-inch NVR bays ship empty: the integrated 128 GB SSD is for the system, not for video retention, so UniFi Protect recording needs hard drives you buy separately. The 2× 25G SFP28 and 2× 10G SFP+ ports need transceivers or DAC cables that are not included; only the two 1 GbE and eight 10 GbE RJ45 ports are cable-ready. Singular Expert Insight
The Beast is the top of Ubiquiti’s large-scale gateway line and it is priced and specified for a site that has genuinely outgrown the Dream Machine Pro Max: 25 Gbps of IDS/IPS rather than 5, 750+ managed devices rather than 200+, and a pair of 25G SFP28 ports for a fibre backbone. What it is not is an all-in-one box. There is no PoE, so the access points and cameras it manages all need power from somewhere else — plan a PoE switch into the same order rather than discovering the gap at installation. The NVR bays are empty, so UniFi Protect needs drives. And the optics for the SFP+ and SFP28 ports are a separate line item. Ubiquiti does not publish a box-contents list for this model, so we have described what the specification confirms rather than guessing. One more thing worth stating plainly: the warranty on UniFi hardware is one year when bought through a distributor or reseller and two years only when bought directly from Ubiquiti’s own webstore — the two-year figure is copied into European listings constantly and it does not apply to distribution stock. Skip it if
Your site is small enough for a Dream Machine Pro Max or a Cloud Gateway Ultra — the Beast’s capacity would go unused. Skip it too if you were expecting integrated PoE switching, which it does not have, or if you need a published box-contents list and PoE budget before purchase.
