Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Beast — 1U Cloud Gateway with 25 Gbps IDS/IPS
25 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput8× 10GbE + 2× 25G SFP28750+ UniFi devices2× 3.5-inch NVR bays
The Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Beast (UDM-Beast) is a 1U rack-mount cloud gateway with 25 Gbps of IDS/IPS throughput and twelve wired ports up to 25G SFP28, built for large business and multi-site networks that want routing, security, network video recording and access control running on one appliance. An octa-core ARM v9 processor at 2.1 GHz, 16 GB of system memory and an integrated 128 GB SSD run UniFi Network, Protect, Access and Talk together, while two 3.5-inch bays take the hard drives for camera recording. Ubiquiti rates it for 750+ managed UniFi devices and 7,500+ simultaneous users. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The UDM-Beast has no PoE output. Ubiquiti publishes no PoE budget and lists no PoE ports for it — every UniFi access point and camera you attach needs a separate PoE switch or injector, so budget for that alongside the gateway. The two 3.5-inch NVR bays ship empty: the integrated 128 GB SSD is for the system, not for video retention, so UniFi Protect recording needs hard drives you buy separately. The 2× 25G SFP28 and 2× 10G SFP+ ports need transceivers or DAC cables that are not included; only the two 1 GbE and eight 10 GbE RJ45 ports are cable-ready. Ubiquiti does not publish a box-contents list for this model. Note also that Ubiquiti’s own warranty term differs by purchase channel — see the specification table below.
Best For
✓ Large business and multi-site UniFi networks
✓ Sites consolidating routing, NVR, access control and VoIP
✓ Networks with 10G or 25G uplinks and fibre backbones
✓ Deployments running UniFi Protect with many cameras
✓ Environments needing 25 Gbps IDS/IPS inspection
✓ Racks where gateway redundancy and DC backup matter
Key Features
25 Gbps IDS/IPS with CyberSecure
Ubiquiti rates the Beast at 25 Gbps of intrusion detection and prevention throughput with 55,000+ signatures when CyberSecure is enabled — five times the IDS/IPS rate of the Dream Machine Pro Max.
Twelve wired ports up to 25G SFP28
Two 1 GbE RJ45, eight 10 GbE RJ45 (also 5G, 2.5G, 1G and 100M), two 10G SFP+ and two 25G SFP28, plus a console port. Up to eight ports can be configured as WAN; the default WAN configuration is one 25G SFP28 and one 10 GbE RJ45.
UniFi Network, Protect, Access and Talk on one box
An octa-core ARM v9 at 2.1 GHz with 16 GB of memory and a 128 GB integrated SSD runs the full UniFi application suite, with two 3.5-inch bays for Protect video storage. Ubiquiti rates it for 100 HD, 60 2K or 40 4K cameras and 200 access hubs.
Built for redundancy
Shadow Mode gateway failover over VRRP lets a second gateway take over, and a USP-RPS DC input provides power backup alongside the internal 150 W universal AC supply. A 1.3-inch touchscreen shows status at the rack.

Singular Expert Insight
The Beast is the top of Ubiquiti’s large-scale gateway line and it is priced and specified for a site that has genuinely outgrown the Dream Machine Pro Max: 25 Gbps of IDS/IPS rather than 5, 750+ managed devices rather than 200+, and a pair of 25G SFP28 ports for a fibre backbone. What it is not is an all-in-one box. There is no PoE, so the access points and cameras it manages all need power from somewhere else — plan a PoE switch into the same order rather than discovering the gap at installation. The NVR bays are empty, so UniFi Protect needs drives. And the optics for the SFP+ and SFP28 ports are a separate line item. Ubiquiti does not publish a box-contents list for this model, so we have described what the specification confirms rather than guessing. One more thing worth stating plainly: the warranty on UniFi hardware is one year when bought through a distributor or reseller and two years only when bought directly from Ubiquiti’s own webstore — the two-year figure is copied into European listings constantly and it does not apply to distribution stock. If you are planning the rest of the site, our network switches and UniFi access points pages cover the PoE and wireless side that this gateway deliberately leaves to other hardware.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You are running a large or multi-site UniFi network that needs 25 Gbps IDS/IPS, 25G SFP28 uplinks and headroom for 750+ devices, and you want routing, UniFi Protect video, Access and Talk consolidated into one 1U appliance with gateway failover and DC power backup.
Skip it if
Your site is small enough for a Dream Machine Pro Max or a Cloud Gateway Ultra — the Beast’s capacity would go unused. Skip it too if you were expecting integrated PoE switching, which it does not have, or if you need a published box-contents list and PoE budget before purchase.
Also consider
UniFi Dream Machine Pro Max or Dream Machine Special Edition for smaller sites (the SE adds integrated PoE switching); a UniFi PoE switch to power the access points and cameras this gateway manages; and NAS or enterprise 3.5-inch SATA drives such as the Toshiba N300 or Synology HAT5310 for the Protect recording bays.
